I have heard of the release of Veeam Reporter 2.0 so I decided to give it a try.

I have downloaded the product and run it with the trial license.

This is what they claim: “Excel spreadsheets are good for building an inventory and allow for quick searching of a particular detail (like finding an IP address for a VM). The Word’s ability to compare documents is great for tracking changes. PDF is a portable format that can be distributed and used in heterogeneous environments as well as use for information archival purposes.”

It really worked fine. It was no trouble getting detailed reports in Visio, Word and Excel.

Reports really look nice. Using Word and Excel for like searching for VM specifics and building network inventory is really practical. I must say that the first time in my life I’ve realized that MS Word has a ‘compare documents’ feature and it looks pretty cool!

The only tricky thing was how I could get the interactive functionality that you see at their sample report page at http://www.veeam.com/reporter/samplereport.htm

And you sometimes wonder how a simples thing can be a brain teaser. The trick was to save a Visio document as an HTML document (File -> Save as Web Page).

Overall option – I liked the product and recommend you to give it a try.
