How can I set up VM so that it can be used as a "real" system within the network?

I have the issue that I need to set up a VM with SUSE 9.x. I have a static IP which I can use for the VM so that it can "talk" to my network; so that it can be used as a "real" system within the network. The question what do I need to do? I have allready set the IP within the YAST.

Answer: You should set the VM network adapter as bridged. Then install the network card driver (AMD PCNET Family Ethernet Adapter) and specify the IP and other properties in the guest OS.
