Sun: Small Datacenter, Huge Savings

Sun Microsystems, the provider of system and server solutions, is developing a kind of a ‘portable datacenter’ to get rid of heavy and complex products.
Blackbox, the Sun product, is a shipping container that includes air conditioning, cabling, etc. the standard 20 ft container can fit in eight racks of approximately 250 systems. Blackbox is believed to bring extremely high cost savings to large enterprises. The product is expected to become globally available in mid-2007.
