Microsoft will launch Viridian beta in Q4 2007

Much anticipated Viridian beta 1 is on schedule for 2007 Q4 release according to Jeff Woolsey, Lead Program Manager Virtualization.

During the Windows Server 2008 Technical Workshop, Jeff Woolsey (Lead Program Manager Windows Virtualization), shared with participants an updated roadmap for virtualization, revealing some unexpected informations: Supposed delays in Windows Server 2008 RTM did not have negative effect on Viridian beta 1 release, still scheduled for a Q4 2007 launch; Also confirmed the Q1 2008 launch of the next version of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), it will appear just 45 days after it Viridian release; The much awaited capability to manage VMware ESX Server hosts along with codename Viridian and Virtual Server 2005 will be available only with SCVMM 2.0 RTM.
